Asbestos is still found in building components in today's construction. Yes, it is more likely to find asbestos in older buildings (pre-1985), but did you know building products bought today at the local hardware store or Home Depot can still contain asbestos. The materials that generally contain asbestos include but are not limited to:

Drywall and Joint compound
Linoleum flooring
Acoustic ceiling materials
Transite water and exhaust pipes
Exterior paneling
Stucco
Roofing and roofing mastics
Naturally Occurring Asbestos (NOA)

If you or your clients plan to renovate, remodel or disturb these materials, you need to have them tested to determine the asbestos content. This can be done only by a licensed/qualified professional.
